This article explains how to download and install Firefox on a Mac.
*About Firefox for Mac Mozilla Firefox is a graphical web browser developed by the Mozilla Corporation and a large community of external contributors. Firefox started as a fork of the Navigator browser component of the Mozilla Application Suite.
*Firefox version 78 is the last supported Firefox version for Mac users of OS X 10.9 Mavericks, OS X 10.10 Yosemite and OS X 10.11 El Capitan. These users will be moved to the Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) channel by an application update. This will provide security updates until the next ESR update in July 2021, after which the affected users will no longer receive security updates.

Firefox support has ended for Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7 and 10.8. This article applies to Mac users only. Starting with Firefox version 49, Firefox requiresMac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) or higher. *Once the download has completed, the file (Firefox.dmg) may open by itself and pop open a Finder window containing the Firefox application. *After dragging Firefox to the Applications folder, hold down the control key while clicking in the window and select Eject ’Firefox’ from the menu.Complete the steps above before running Firefox. Upon installation, Firefox will not be your default browser, which you’ll be notified about. That means that when you open a link in your mail application, an Internet shortcut, or HTML document, it will not open in Firefox. If you want Firefox to do those things, click . If you’re just trying out Firefox or simply do not wish to set Firefox as your default browser, click .
Internet boosters for mac. On June 30th, macOS 10.9, 10.10 and 10.11 users will automatically be moved to the Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR).
While Apple doesn’t have an official policy governing security updates for older macOS releases, their ongoing practice has been to support the most recent three releases (i.e. version N, N-1, and N-2). The last security update applicable to macOS 10.11 was made available nearly 2 years ago in July 2018 (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201222). Unsupported operating systems receive no security updates, have known exploits, and can be dangerous to use, which makes it difficult and less than optimal to maintain Firefox for those versions.
